Hot Weather Update - Early Closures
Back to Latest NewsDear Parents and Carers,
I would like to begin by thanking our parents, carers and staff for their continued commitment to the education, well-being, and welfare of our children, particularly during the current period of exceptionally hot weather.
Throughout the day, I have been carefully monitoring temperatures across all classrooms and school areas. Despite the reasonable adjustments and measures we have put in place, including increased ventilation, access to water and adaptations to activities, classroom temperatures have continued to rise during the afternoon.
After careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to implement an early finish on Thursday 25th June 2026 and Friday 26th June 2026 to ensure the health, safety and well-being of pupils and staff. This will also allow families to travel home before the hottest part of the day.
On both days, children will have lunch as normal and may be collected from school from 12:30 p.m.
We recognise that this may cause inconvenience for some families and appreciate your understanding and support. This decision has not been taken lightly and has been made with the welfare of our school community as the overriding priority.
Please ensure that children continue to attend school with a water bottle, appropriate sun protection and suitable clothing for the weather. For Thursday and Friday only, pupils may bring a bottle containing weak squash or diluted juice if this encourages them to remain hydrated throughout the day.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs A Winch
Principal
Drapers' Brookside Infant and Junior Schools
